Helena Gardens was started in 2024 by Helena Haimes - urban dweller, rural communard, experienced gardener, and graduate of the certificate in horticulture at Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

 

Helena grew up gardening in rural Sussex, UK. After working as an install and maintenance gardener in New York City for a few seasons, she established her own business helping clients looking for a gardener with an ecologically-conscious approach to horticulture and design. 

 

At Helena Gardens, we aim to collaborate with nature rather than battle it, creating and maintaining beautiful, functional gardens that are abuzz with pollinators, birds and other wildlife. While we love native plants, we’ll work with you on a planting design that best suits your space - we avoid anything invasive but think a judicious mix of well-behaved non natives and local native plants can make for a garden that engages humans as much as fauna.
